Monday, August 18:

  • Glenwood Primary: (8:30 - 12:30 p.m.) - GED classes will be held Monday through Friday on school grounds. For more information, contact Tina Black at (706) 236-1855.
  • College & Career Academy: Students will be raising funds to participate in the SkillsUSA competition in  Graphic Arts by selling Discount Cards for $12.00. The cards are valid at business in the counties of Floyd and Polk until 10/01/09.
  • Model Middle: Students will be raising funds for library books and equipment by selling Discount Cards for $12.00. The cards are valid in the counties of Floyd and Polk until 10/01/09. The fund raiser will end September 30, 2008. For more information contact Lorrie Dysart at (706) 290-8150.

Wednesday, August 20:

  • Coosa Middle: Picture Day
  • Pepperell Primary: The Kindergarten class will have a visitor to help the students learn about the letter " T ". Mrs. Kim Kilgore, from Arrowhead Environmental Education Center, speak to the students and introduce them to a tortoise.

Thursday, August 21:

  • Floyd County School System: (8:30 a.m.) - Superintendent's Advisory Committee Meeting will take place at Model High School. The committee is made up of parents and high school students.  Breakfast begins at 8:30 and the meeting starts at 9 a.m.
  • Cave Spring Elementary: (6:30 p.m.) – Board of Education Community Listening Session.  The community is invited to attend the Listening Session to share their thoughts with board members.  The Cave Spring Elementary Chorus will also entertain with a special jazz performance.  This is the first in a series of five listening sessions planned by the board.

Saturday, August 23:

  • Armuchee High: (3:30 p.m.) - 2nd Annual "Ride for the Tribe"  -  Free t-shirt for each registered rider. Early Registration fees are $25 per bike or $30 for couple. Ride day registration fees are $30 per bike or $40 for couple. The ride will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the AHS parking lot. All proceeds go to AHS Football Boosters Program.
