Pre-K student in class
Registration for next year's Pre-K class has been strong this week as parents put in the applications for their children for the fall. Parents can register their child for the graduating class of 2031 in Floyd County Schools through Friday, February 10.  The registration is for the slots available in the Pre-K program for the 2017-2018 school year.

To be eligible for Pre-K, a child must be four-years-old on or before September 1, 2017. Applications for the program will be available at each school in the system offering a Pre-K class. Completed forms should be returned to the local school. Proof of residency will be required to submit an application.  Proof of residency may be a gas, power or water bill.

Pre-K slots are not filled on a first come basis so being first in line for registration is not important. This means that applications received next week will have an equal opportunity to be selected as those turned in this week. Names will be randomly drawn from applications received to fill the number of spaces available at each school site. Applications of children living in the district of a school are given first priority. All applying for the program will be notified by mail concerning the status of their application in March.

Pre-K sites in Floyd County Schools for 2017-2018 are  Alto Park Elementary, Cave Spring Elementary, Garden Lakes Elementary, Glenwood Primary, Johnson Elementary, McHenry Primary, Model Elementary, and Pepperell Primary.
