CHS Lady Eagles soar into the Final Four in volleyball

The Coosa High Lady Eagle volleyball team has been flying high all season but the team reached new heights on Saturday as they defeated Rabun County to advance to the Class AA Final Four in the state volleyball playoffs.  The Lady Eagles will face Rockmart in the semi-final match on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Coosa High for the right to play for the state championship.

Coosa High beat a tough Rabun County Team 25-20, 25-12 and 25-23 in the quarterfinal game held at Coosa on Saturday.  The win gave Coach Nic Hann and his Lady Eagles their first-ever Final Four berth for the Coosa volleyball program.   

Senior Tori Overby led the team with 16 kills in the match and Junior Taylor Roberts added 10 more.  Senior Abigail Talley let the team with 15 assists, while Freshman Kasey Thacker and Sophomore Debra Barker each chipped in five serve aces.

Coosa has beaten Rockmart twice this season in straight sets in route to their 40 wins season.  The team has been led in kills by Roberts and Overby, Overby has led the team in serve aces, and Roberts has led the team in blocked shots.

The Wednesday match at Coosa will only accept GHSA passes for free admission at the gate.
