Summer Feeding Program Kick-off Celebration
Summer Feeding Celebration Wednesday at Ridge Ferry Park
Posted on 06/07/2016
The Summer Feeding program has been going strong for a week with over 6,l00 meals served. Even though thousands have already celebrated getting a nutritious meal, the program, partners and volunteers will hold an official community celebration kick-off on Wednesday in Ridge Ferry Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration will include activities, free meals for kids 18 and under and fun for the entire family.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is partnering with local communities again this year to serve free meals for children and Floyd County Schools is teaming up with local churches and organizations to meet the need in our community.

There are no income requirements and any child under the age of 18 may visit one of the community locations to get a good meal.

Walk-in sites are located in the cafeterias at the following Floyd County Schools with meals served Monday through Friday through July 28.
  • Armuchee High School -  breakfast at 8 - 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. - 12 noon
  • Model High School - breakfast from 8 - 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. - 12 noon.
  • Pepperell High School - breakfast from 8 - 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. - 12 noon
These additional school locations will serve only lunch.
  • Garden Lakes Elementary - 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
  • McHenry Primary School - 11 a.m. to 12 noon
Working with community agencies, churches and volunteers; there are a number of other community locations where meals will be served during the summer. A complete listing of locations, dates and times are available on the school system's website at  Summer Feeding Program Schedule
