When you think of Rome/Floyd Parks and Recreation, the organization's new logo will bring to mind all that the area has to offer. At least that was the aim of logo designer, Josh Walls, a senior at Model High School. Walls' design was selected by the Rome/Floyd Parks and Recreation Department as the winner of the organization's logo design contest.
Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord and Rome/Floyd Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Cowling visited Model High Wednesday to recognize Walls for his winning design. "I wanted to take into account what Rome has to offer, specifically The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation," said Walls. His drawing incorporated icons with drawings of the Rome Clock Tower, river activities, and the arches depicting the Roman aqueduct located near the entrance to the city. "Each icon represents activities the area and the Recreation Department offers from gymnastics to baseball and canoeing," Walls added. "I also wanted to have a green and blue theme in the logo to represent the outdoor side."
Walls was presented with a framed copy of the logo, an art kit, and doughnuts. He will also receive a $100 check for winning the contest and will get a t-shirt sporting the new logo.
Josh Walls' art teacher at Model High School is June Manis.
