web shotSeniors from Model High School returned to their former stomping grounds to reminisce about the past as they prepare to enter a new doorway to the future.  Model Elementary hosted the seniors for a senior luncheon to give the group a trip down memory lane before next week's graduation. "I am finishing where I started," commented one of the senior group as they opened the door to enter Model Elementary.

The senior luncheon was held in the lunchroom at the elementary school with special slide presentations of photos from the group's years in elementary school.  The seniors laughed and pointed as they watched the old photos flash before their eyes.  The luncheon was provided by River City Bank.

The senior luncheon also featured a special address from Tony Bethune, former principal at Model Elementary and now retiring head of curriculum and instruction for the system. "I want to share a story with you about the hyphen," said Bethune as he addressed the group. "The hyphen represents your life and the options and choices that lie before you. Understand the importance of those choices and make sure those you make do not limit your choices later in life."

The seniors walked around the school and most stopped in to see a former teacher or two to thank them for the time invested in them while in elementary school.  "I hope this will be an annual event for our seniors at Model," stated Aimee Hays, principal at Model Elementary. "We want you to know how proud we are of you and proud that we were a part of your destination to graduation."
