Instagram Takeover
If you are a follower of the Georgia Department of Education's Instagram, you got to see a lot of what is happening in the gifted program of Floyd County Schools last week. April Cummings, a gifted elementary teacher at Glenwood Primary School, took over the Department of Education's account to share information about her program and her school.  Cummings was selected to be a part of the Department of Education's Instagram Teacher Takeover.

This school year, teachers from various schools have been chosen to takeover the state's Instagram to share what is happening in classrooms across the state.  As part of this special project, teachers were asked to share the world of an educator with other Georgians and followers of the Department of Education through pictures and brief narratives using the GaDOE Instagram platform.

April Cummings completed her week of the Teacher Takeover during the week of the Thanksgiving Holidays. She posted photos from her classes' activities from the beginning of the school year. Cummings showcased her students engaged in learning inside the classroom, attending school events, and going on educational field trips as part of the children's current unit of study.

"Participating in the Georgia Department of Education Instagram Takeover was a great opportunity to share the wonderful work of my students and spotlight Glenwood Primary and Floyd County School's Gifted Education Program," Cummings said.  "I was delighted to have been selected to participate in this project and use this social media tool to spread the word through pictures about the exciting things our students are doing in Floyd County."
