Floyd art students sweep RACA Fire Fly Fling Art Competition

Artists from Floyd County Schools swept top honors in the Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA) Fire Fly Fling Art Competition.  Kiana Mata, a sophomore at Armuchee High School, took first place, Reannah Smith, a junior at Pepperell High School, finished in second place and McKayla Keasler, a junior at Model High School, placed third in the competition.

These student's winning artworks will be incorporated into the invitation for the Fire Fly Fling event hosted by RACA.  The works may also be seen on V3 televisions downtown during the month of April.  All art submitted for the competition will be exhibited at the Fire Fly Fling gala to be held on Friday, April 24 at the Woodlee Culinary Arts Center at Georgia Northwestern Technical College.

The event is the 38th anniversary celebration for Rome Area Council for the Arts.




 Placing in the competition:
First Place: Kiana Mata, Armuchee High 
Second Place: Reannah Smith, Pepperell High
Third Place: McKayla Keasler, Model High
Honorable Mention: Jamie Armstrong, Armuchee High
Honorable Mention: Emily Tyler, Model High
