Seven seniors from Floyd County Schools were honored recently by the Rome Noon Optimist Club at the groups annual Student of the Year awards banquet.  Anna Tibbetts of Armuchee High received the All-around award.  Tibbetts plans to attend Samford University after graduation.  All-around finalists were: John Tyler Dobson, Pepperell High; and Rachel McFry, Model High.  Dobson plans to pursue a career in the performing arts while McFry is considering a career in biology or bio-medical engineering at Georgia Tech or the University of North Georgia.

The Optimist also honored students in a "Life Hero" category.  These are students who have faced serious physical illnesses, or often a family crises, yet persevered to excel in school.  Sharing top honors were Anna Ballinger, Pepperell High; and Erin Massey, Armuchee High.

Students were also honored with Community Involvement awards.  These are students who have put forth extra efforts to make contributions inside and outside of school.  Two Floyd County seniors were finalists in this category.  Kailey Calhoun, Model High; and Claire Tibbetts, Armuchee High.  Calhoun plans to attend Berry College after graduation and Tibbetts, twin sister of Anna, also plans to attend Berry and play basketball.
