Armuchee's Claire Tibbetts wins Outstanding Student Athlete Award

Claire Tibbetts, a senior at Armuchee High took the top female award as she won one of two Outstanding Student Athlete awards presented recently by the Rome/Floyd Hall of Fame.  Tibbetts' honor included a $1,200 scholarship award called the John Pinson, Jr. Student Athlete Scholarship. Tibbetts and five other finalists for the award from Floyd County Schools were honored recently at the Hall of Fame annual banquet.  
Tibbetts played point guard on the Armuchee High girls basketball team.  After graduation in May, she plans to attend Berry College where she will play basketball and pursue interests in the sciences or a medical field. 
Other student athletes nominated for the Outstanding Student Athlete award were Triston Casteel, Coosa High; Rachel McFry, Model High; Brice Pence, Pepperell High; Aaron Roberts, Coosa High; and Dax Bishop, Model High. These students were honored along with other public and private school students from the Rome area.

The annual Sports Hall of Fame banquet honors male and female college bound high school seniors for academic, athletic and community achievements.  To be considered for the award, each college bound student athlete must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, participate actively in school and community related activities, and be nominated by the student's school.
