It is a significant honor to be selected for the Floyd County Honor Band and a valuable experience for the participants. The musicians came together Thursday evening to begin their preparation for the performance.  The middle and high school students have practiced all day
today and the experience will culminate in the performance this evening. The students audition for seating/chair assignments for the performance.

This annual event showcases the talent in the band programs at Armuchee, Coosa, Model and Pepperell middle schools and high schools.  It is also an opportunity for the best band students to experience work with college level conductors and display their talents for those who may want to play in a band program after high school.

The middle school conductor for the practices and performances is Ricky Williams, band director at Dean Rusk Middle School in Canton, Georgia.  The high school conductor is Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford, director of bands and assistant professor of music at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.

There will be a middle school band performance beginning at 6:30 p.m. that will followed by the high school band performance.
