Model High School has honored Dr. Nevin Jones with a plaque which will hang in the school’s atrium - the “heart” of the school. Dr. Jones, the Model Schools’ biggest fan, has been a part of the Model Community since 1935 when he started first grade.

After graduation, he has also served as a Model High School teacher, coach, principal, parent, and grandparent as well as superintendent of Floyd County Schools. The plaque is the Model Schools and community’s way of saying “thank you to Dr. Jones for his service and dedication to children and the community.

The recognition was presented to Dr. Jones on October 17, 2014 before the Model football game against Coosa.  Melanie Drinkard, family and consumer sciences teacher at Model, catered a meal for Dr. Jones and his family before the game.
