The path to school will encounter detours for many living in the Coosa area on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Drivers using Redmond Circle on Wednesday and the Alabama Highway on Thursday and Friday will need to make changes in their driving routine due to work on railroad crossings. The crossing on Redmond Road will be closed on Wednesday and the crossing on the Alabama Highway near Barker Road will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Norfolk Southern work crews will close the crossings from 8 a.m. to the end of the work day for the three days.
Parents transporting their children to school are encouraged to please make plans to leave earlier than usual if using the crossings to be worked on over the next three days. There will be detours signs to take motorists around the work areas but expect delays.
Motorists could use Lavender Drive or Garden Lakes Blvd to Huffaker Rd to maneuver around the Redmond Circle work. Drivers will be detoured onto Woods Rd. to Garden Lakes Parkway to Huffaker Rd to get around construction from the west during the Alabama Highway construction. Most issues on Alabama Highway will be encountered in the afternoon after school.
