Model High School is pleased to announce the reactivation of chapter 434 of FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America for the 2014-15 school year. A quarter of a million high school and middle school students, college and university students, faculty, educators, administrators, and business professionals have chosen to be members of the premier business education association preparing students for careers in business. The state of Georgia leads the nation in the number of students participating in FBLA. FBLA-PBL sponsors conferences and seminars for members and advisers. These programs are designed to foster the development of business leadership skills.
Model High Business Department teacher, William Hosmer, will serve as the adviser to the reactivated chapter. “FBLA offers excellent opportunities for students to excel in leadership roles and to show off their skills by participating in regional, state, and national level competitive events,” stated Hosmer. This year’s theme is “Step Up to the Challenge.” Members may elect to fill one of the chapter officer roles that include: president, vice-president, treasurer, reporter, secretary, historian, parliamentarian, chaplain, and photographer. Others will lead by serving as project manager of various community service and fundraising events.
The initial FBLA event of the year is to attend the annual Georgia Motivational Rally in Perry, Georgia where Model High students will join thousands of fellow students from across the state for the 2014 rally, followed by a visit to the Georgia State Fair. Dues for the club at Model are $20, of which $11 goes to pay state and national dues. The amount also includes an FBLA T-Shirt. "Members will make new friends, build relationships, and enhance their career and academic resumes while expanding their business knowledge and serving their school and community." Hosmer added. Additional information about FBLA may be found on the fbla.org web site. Look for the launch of Model High School’s FBLA web site in the near future.
