Tucker McCoy, a seventh-grader at Pepperell Middle School, has been named to the Future Stars Georgia all-star middle school team. The Future Stars program selects Georgia’s top middle school football players from eight combines held across the state to play a team of Florida all-stars. There is a team selected for each middle school grade level. McCoy is a five-foot ten, 248-pound lineman for the Pepperell Middle School football team.
McCoy attended the Rome and northwest Georgia area combine on March 2, where he participated in the 40-yard dash, short shuttle run, agility drills, and lineman showcases. Future Stars teams were announced on April 2, on the futurestarsgame.com website.
McCoy is slated to play on the offensive line for Team Georgia as they take on the Florida All-Stars in Bradenton, Florida on June 20. The game will be aired on Fox Sports. The players will spend the game week on the IMG Academy campus getting instruction from top high school coaches. The Future Stars Game will feature some of the best sixth, seventh, and eighth-grader football players in Georgia and Florida. The players will report to camp in Bradenton on June 16.
The goal of the Future Stars Corporation is to provide kids with life lasting memories, while educating them on life, academics, social media, and college. The program also seeks to help participants secure college scholarships, provide mentoring, encourage academic growth, and athletic accomplishment long after the participants have played in the Future Stars Game.
McCoy credits his coaches, Joey Shiflett, Brandon Parker, Chad McKenzie, and Ken Jones, along with his dad, Joe McCoy, for helping him to prepare for the combine. McCoy said, “We hope to bring home a victory for Team Georgia.”
