Model junior places 2nd in FFA Wood Fabrication Competition

Weston Penny, a junior at Model High School and a student in the Horticulture program at Floyd County Schools College and Career Academy, placed second in the Area 1 FFA Senior Wood Fabrication Competition held in Murray County on Tuesday.  Penny constructed a wood cabinet to earn second place.

Penney competed representing the College and Career Academy FFA chapter in the area meet.  Troy Fitzpatrick is the instructor of the Horticulture program at the College and Career Academy. Penney will now advance to the state competition to be held May 1 - 3 at the Georgia FFA State Convention in Macon.  He will compete against 11 other area winners from across the state.  Over 5,000 FFA members from Georgia will attend the annual convention.
