The Coosa Eagles boys basketball team won their second round playoff game to advance to the Elite 8 in the State Basketball Tournament.  The Eagles will face a familiar opponent in the Calhoun Yellow Jackets in the quarterfinal game.  The game will be played Thursday at 7 p.m. at Calhoun High School.

Coosa advanced into the elite level of state Class AA basketball by defeating Hapeville Charter in the second round of the basketball playoffs on Tuesday evening in Atlanta.  Coosa head coach John McFather's team continued their tenacious run through the playoff bracket by overcoming a deficit with a 14-3 run late in the game to close out Hapeville.

Tavaris Wilson once again led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points while eight of his teammates pitched-in with points on offense.  Billy Bell scored 10 points and Calean Carter, nine to lead the other scorers for Coosa.

A win on Thursday would put the Eagles into the final four of the Class AA Tournament and earn them a trip to Columbus to play in the semi-finals at Columbus State University.
