How does Youth Apprenticeship work? 

Youth Apprenticeship provides an opportunity for juniors and seniors to start preparing for a career while still in high school. Individual programs of study in the freshman and sophomore years prepare students for a successful apprenticeship. 

Youth Apprenticeship consists of: 
  • a sequence of courses that develops each student's academic and occupational competencies 
  • on-the-job learning guided by a skilled work-based mentor 
  • skill development based on competency standards developed by industry and labor 
Youth Apprenticeship provides students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, a post- secondary credential or diploma, and industry certification in their chosen career area.
